Meet the Presenters

Dale Battleson, Ph.D., LCSW, LMFT
Applied Ethics

Dale Battleson, Ph.D., LCSW, LMFT is a private practice therapist based in Omaha, Nebraska at Great Oaks Counseling. With over 30 years of experience, Dale specializes in Marriage and Family Therapy (Systemic Therapy) for both individual and family.
Dale obtained the Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy and Family Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, as well as a Master of Social Work Degree specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
In addition to years of private practice work, Dale taught as Adjunct Faculty at UNO for 10 years teaching courses in Human Development, Family Science, Family and Sexuality, and Family Assessment.
Dale is an LIMHP, certified in both Marriage and Family Therapy and Clinical Social Work. He has been a Clinical Member (over 30 years) and Approved Supervisor (20 years) for AAMFT. He has been on the Nebraska State Board of Mental Health Practice for 11 years, and is a member of the Association of Marriage and Family Therapists Regulatory Boards, serving both as the Nebraska delegate and an Item Writer for the National Exam.

Susan Reay, Ed.D., LICSW
Digital Citizenship for Therapists: Navigating Technology, Social Media, and Ethics

Dr. Susan Reay is an educator, researcher, and clinical practitioner with over 30 years of experience. She is the director of the Grace Abbott School of Social Work at the University of Nebraska in Omaha. As a faculty member, she teaches master’s social work students how to implement effective clinical behavioral health interventions and develop leadership skills. Dr. Reay has held numerous leadership and board positions, including serving on the Nebraska Mental Health Practice Board for 13 years. Dr. Reay has dedicated her career to promoting ethical mental health practice.

Sherry Hubbard, LIMHP, MFT, PC
Relational, Attachment and Complex Trauma-based Strategies

Sherry Hubbard has her LIMHP in the State of Nebraska as well as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselor.  She has been a clinician for 30+ years and in private practice for most of those years.  Most of her work in recent years has been in the area of couple’s therapy and trauma, with a focus on complex and relational trauma, using a range of strategies that have foundations from a variety of training and experiential work. She has served on the NAMFT Board of Directors, and has been twice president of NAMFT.  She also served on the founding board of APPT and was their second president.

Allyson Rickertsen, MBA, MS, LIMHP
The Intersection of Mental Health and the Body

Allyson Rickertsen is non-profit Program Director, AAMFT Supervisor Candidate, Clinical Fellow, and lecturer at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln.  She has focused her career specifically on serving adolescents and their families.  Allyson holds a clinical degree in Marriage and Family therapy with a post-degree certification in Medical Family Therapy; she prioritizes working with youth who have experienced complex developmental trauma and Traumatic Brain Injuries.

Vanessa Neuhaus, MS, LMFT, LIMHP
The Intersection of Mental Health and the Body

Vanessa Neuhaus, LIMHP, LMFT, has been working as a psychotherapist in private practice since 2014.  From 2015-2021 she served as Clinic and Program Director for the MFT Program at UNL, and now owns and operates Sikhona Holistic Therapy and Wellness, an integrative cooperative practice in Lincoln. Vanessa is currently an advanced student in Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Certification Program, and uses this approach; along with systemic and attachment-based methods; in her work with couples and individuals navigating betrayal and attachment trauma, pregnancy and child loss, and professional burnout.
